Volunteer

How Can You Help?
Join us in serving people with disabilities! We're flexible about times and commitment levels; volunteer on
weekdays, weekends, or evenings. We welcome corporate teams, office groups, schools, service organizations,
alumni groups, associations, families, fraternities and sororities, and religious organizations.
We have a number of important positions, for both individuals and groups. Volunteers are strong partners in
the work we do.
Volunteer Opportunities
Program Volunteers
Volunteers comfortable with aiding and assisting participants through the course of their day can enrich
both their own and participants experience at the Center. High school students, college students and
community volunteers are frequently seen around the Center at lunchtime. Many make valuable friends during
their tenure as volunteers.
Capital Improvement Volunteers
Volunteers willing to get their hands dirty can help with painting classrooms, weeding the garden, repairing
guardrails, etc. Our building is close to 30 years old and its age shows in the wear and tear from use and
the salt air nearby.
Tech Gurus
Volunteers proficient with computers assist staff with database development and application training.
Knowledge of PC Networking, Word, Excel, Foxbase, and HTML are a plus.
Office Assistants
Occasionally, we have administrative support volunteers helping with everything from telephone solicitations
to data entry to stuffing envelopes.
Special Event Volunteers
The Janet Pomeroy Center raises money and community awareness with a wide variety of special events
throughout the year. Volunteers help by staffing these fun community activities, which are often held on
evenings and weekends.
