Opened in 1952 as the Recreation Center for the Handicapped, our founder Janet Pomeroy established the Center on the premise that recreation for people with disabilities is a human right. Now known as the Janet Pomeroy Center, the mission of the Center is to provide recreation, vocation, resource counseling, and rehabilitation opportunities for people of all ages with congenital and acquired developmental disabilities. The Center hopes to encourage self-expression and promote personal achievement in a supportive environment that will lead to greater independence for all our participants.

The Janet Pomeroy Center provides therapeutic recreation, vocational rehabilitation, child and adult development, rehabilitation case management, respite programs, and transportation for individuals with congenital and acquired developmental disabilities ages five through senior adult.

As a 501(c)3 Nonprofit organization, all donations made to us are tax-deductible (tax ID # 94-1394025).
