Respite Care Services
The Janet Pomeroy Center is one of only a few organizations in Northern California offering weekend
overnight respite care for people with developmental disabilities, ages 18 through senior. A
Saturday Respite program for ages five and up is also available between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Respite care programs are
provided to give families or caretakers and persons with a disability time to rejuvenate, time to
rest, and an opportunity for the parents' vacation.
Our original Respite Care program started in 1984 and was expanded when our Gisela Gellert Respite
Care Complex opened in 1989. Our current facility boasts four large bedrooms, each with two double
beds and private bathrooms. Staff at a 1:4 ratio are trained to provide assistance with all daily
living needs, and implement a wide array of recreation activities including arts & crafts, cooking
projects, and community outings. The program also utilizes our gymnasium, garden and playground.
With the overnight program, meals are included.
Eligible participants ages five through senior may receive funding through the California Regional
Center system. Private pay options are also available.
